Why every Startfrom template is free right now

Startfrom is in open beta, and every template in the library is free to duplicate. Here is the honest reason why, what free actually means, and what changes later.

July 2026

Every template on Startfrom is free. Not free-tier free, not free-until-you-press-publish free. You press Duplicate, the entire project lands in your Framer workspace, and it is yours.

A fair question follows: what is the catch? This note is the honest answer.

The short version

  • Startfrom is in open beta, and every release is free to duplicate while the library grows.

  • Anything you duplicate now stays yours and keeps working. There is no retroactive license, ever.

  • When the library matures, new releases will be paid. Free ends with the beta, not with your projects.

Why we are doing this

The library is young. Three releases, Parley, Marby, and Auria, with more in progress. A paywall in front of a short shelf helps nobody: we would rather have real sites launching in the wild and telling us where the templates hold up and where they crack.

Every duplicate teaches us something. The sections people delete first, the breakpoints that get manual fixes, the pages nobody edits. That feedback is worth more than launch-week revenue, and it is what makes release four better than release one.

What free actually includes

The free version is the only version. Every release ships complete:

  • The full page set: home, about, contact, and CMS-driven pages, already wired together.

  • Prefilled CMS collections, so you see how content flows before touching anything.

  • Dedicated layout passes for desktop, tablet, and phone.

  • A prompt pack for copy, imagery, and code edits that stay on art direction.

  • A publish checklist that walks the boring SEO details in order.

What happens when the beta ends

New releases get prices. Templates already in your workspace keep working exactly as they do today, publishing included. Early users taking a chance on a new library should be rewarded for it, not billed later.

The one thing we ask

Launch something. Then tell us where the template fought you: the unclear section, the breakpoint that needed a manual fix, the setting you could not find. That is the entire price.

If you are deciding where to start, our guide to free Framer templates for product and service launches maps each release to the launch it was built for. Or just browse the library and trust your eye.
